Reasons and Fixes to Resolve Lexmark Printer Not Printing Problem
1. Default Printer Issue
An invalid printer is set by default. See the image below for a photo.
Open the Printers or Printer, Fax folder and find the correct printer icon.
- To do this: In Windows XP, click Start> Settings> Printer and Fax (or Start> Control Panel> Printers and Fax).
- In Windows Vista, click Start> Control Panel> Hardware and Sound> Printers.
- Right-click the printer icon, and then click Set as Default Printer. A check mark above the printer icon now identifies it as the default printer.

2. If you are “Offline”
The printer is set to offline and the printer icon appears washed out. See the image below for an illustration.
Open the Printers or Printers and Faxes folder and find the correct printer icon.
To do it:
- In Windows XP, click Start> Settings> Printer and Faxes (or Start> Control Panel> Printers and Faxes).
- In Windows Vista, click Start> Control Panel> Hardware and Sound> Printers.
- Right-click the printer icon and select Use Printer Online.
- Try printing again.
3. If your Printer is Paused
The print or print queue is paused, and the print queue icon remains in the notification area (“system”) of the taskbar.
Explanation
This is usually an end user error. Dragging the mouse cursor over the print queue icon in the notification area, you will find (1,2,3) documents waiting (username).
What to do
Double-click the print queue icon to open the print queue. (This may also appear as a small printer icon in the lower-right notification area of the taskbar.)
- Click on the printer in the upper left corner of the menu bar.
- Is there a checkbox next to “Stop printing”?
- If so, click “Stop Printing” to turn off this Windows feature.
- Otherwise, make sure there is a check mark next to Set as default printer, and make sure Use Off Printer is not selected.
4. Printer Driver issue
- Click Windows Key + X> Apps and Features> Scroll down and click Programs and Features> Select your printer> Select Uninstall.
- Type Printer in the Windows Search box> Printers & Scanners> Select your printer> Remove device.
- Or open control panel> programs and features> right click on the installed printer driver and select uninstall.
- And restart windows to completely remove the printer driver.
- After that Type Printer in the Windows Start Search box> Click Printers and Scanners> On the right side, Click Add a printer or scanner> If Windows detects your printer, it is listed> Select printer and follow the directions on the screen to set it up (In case of Wifi printer, your computer must also be logged in to Wifi network)
- If your printer is not detected by Windows, you will receive a blue message-click the printer I want is not listed.
- If you use a Bluetooth/wireless printer> select Add Bluetooth, wireless, or network discoverable printer> select printer> select your printer and follow the instructions on the screen.
- If you are using a wired printer> select manual setup to add a local printer or network printer> select use an existing port> select your printer and follow the on-screen instructions. During installation and configuration, if a driver is required, please select the driver path before downloading from the printer manufacturer’s website. After the installation is complete, try to print a test page. I believe the printer can successfully print the document this time.
5. Printer Port Selection is not Correct
If you have not already done so, please print the network setup page. If you are not familiar with this program, please consult the user guide.
Open the printer or printer and fax folder and find your printer object.
To do this:
- In Windows XP, click Start> Settings> Printers and Faxes, or Start> Control Panel> Printers and Faxes.
- In Windows Vista, click Start> Control Panel> Hardware and Sound> Printers.
- Right-click the printer icon and select Properties from the drop-down menu.
- Click the Ports tab.
Printer Not Working After Windows 10 Update
Sometimes this problem may occur due to updates or corrupted printer drivers. But this is not a big problem, and there is no reason to panic. Sit down and follow the steps below
- The first thing to do is to connect your Lexmark printer to the PC and turn it on. If you have wireless, you should first turn it on and let it connect to the WiFi network.
- The second is to update printer drivers. For this, you need to download the drivers from the printer manufacturer’s website. Reinstall drivers after download.
- The third step in this troubleshooting process is to uninstall and then completely reinstall the printer. You must follow these steps:

Reinstall the printer drivers and reboot the PC now.

Now select the printer and follow all the screen instructions to set everything up.
NOTE: In case of Wi-Fi printer you will need to connect your PC to Wi-Fi network.
If your printer does not find a window, you will receive blue text. Now you have to choose an unlisted printer.
- If you are using a Bluetooth or wireless printer, you can choose ‘Add Bluetooth or Wireless or Network Discoveryable Printer and select the printer you want to add and follow all instructions.
- If you are using a wired printer, you must first add a local or network printer and follow the manual settings. Select an existing port and select a printer. After doing all of this, follow the on-screen directions.
